Manchester City were heavily linked with Harry Kane this past summer and it all turned into a saga. The summer-long saga finally came to a conclusion when Harry Kane himself announced on his social media handles that he would be staying at Spurs for the foreseeable future despite reports indicating that the Englishman wanted to play for Pep Guardiola.

The Cityzens are currently lacking a proper number nine. The idea was to replace the club legend and record goal-scorer, Sergio Aguero. The Argentine left for free this past summer and joined FC Barcelona on a Bosman. Having said that, the defending Premier League champions have only officially tried for Harry Kane thus far.

According to a recent report from Fichajes, Manchester City are eyeing the signature of Real Soceidad’s Alexander Isak. The 22-year-old has been hitting the headlines off-late with his scintillating displays and has apparently caught the attention of a desperate City think-tank.

Isak is strong physically and is pacy. Not to forget, the 22-year-old has the knack to participate in the chance creation thus fitting the profile of an ideal striker who is bound to flourish under Pep Guardiola. Having said that, it is also understood that rivals Manchester United are in the background to sign the 22-year-old as well

The source also reports that Isak’a release clause is worth €90 million and it is a sum that is not beyond the reach of both, City and United.

Coincidentally, both these clubs have also been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s goal-machine in Erling Haaland. Haaland’s release clause only gets activated next summer and would be available for a fee in the range of £77 million.

With two attractive options in Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland, it will be interesting to see which way City go though it is highly likely that they would fancy their chances of landing Haaland.
Having said that, Isak is not a bad option at all.
