This new contract will also help him in becoming one of the most paid youngsters in Club history with his salary set to be tripled. City are expected to announce this deal in near future at the Etihad after Foden returns from his International duty.
The 21-year-old has made 130 appearances in Manchester City’s colors, scoring 33 goals. He even started in the last year’s UEFA Champions League final against arch-rivals Chelsea where his side suffered a heartbreaking 0-1 defeat.
In a recent interview, Foden spoke:
"“I can only see myself playing for Manchester City, considering how much I’ve supported them from a young age.”“It always helps when you play for a club you support.”"
The Englishman has always been a part of Pep Guardiola’s plans ever since his debut in a pre-season friendly against Manchester United in 2017. Though he had to be patient initially where he couldn’t be a starter for the First team, Pep saw that he was always in the Team environment and nurtured well under the likes of Stellar players like Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva.
Despite carrying several injuries from his impressive EURO 2020 stint, Foden made a bright start to this year’s English Premier League campaign. His ability to be flexible in all of the front three is what makes him a formidable player in the mix.
Foden’s astonishing rise in City’s ranks was not an easy one. He had to compete against the likes of some of Manchester City’s finest players in the form of Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, and Ferran Torres.
He will be the latest candidate among the list of players who have put pen to paper to sign an extended contract with the Defending champions. The list includes an elite group of players like Ruben Diaz, John Stones, Ederson, Kevin De Bruyne, and Fernandinho.
