Manchester City had another convincing outing at the Etihad as they were able to hand a 2-0 defeat to Burnley. For City, goals from Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne were enough to ensure that the hosts bag all three points in their latest league fixture.

On Saturday, the Sky Blues were again off to a bright start as they had seemingly made life tough for the Claret’s backline. In the 12th minute of the game, Bernardo Silva opened the scoring his side as he converted a rebound from Foden’s saved shot.

Despite taking the lead in the early stages of the game, Guardiola’s side were keen to add more goals to their tally. Joao Cancelo looked certain to add a second goal as he volleyed a De Bruyne cross into the Burnley post which, however, was bravely denied by Nicolas Pope.

On the other hand, the visitors looked interested to cancel out the Silva opener, they made some solid runs into the City box but eventually failed to convert their chances in their attacking half.

Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet probably had the best chance to score, he was set up by a beautiful pass by teammate Dwight Mcneil, which was fortunately saved by Zack Steffen.

In the second half, the hosts didn’t have much to offer in terms of attack as they didn’t create enough chances in their final third. However, Kevin De Bruyne finished the game off with a decent strike after capitalising on a misplaced clearance from Ashley Westwood.

Besides a couple of good runs from the Burnley attack, it seemed like another easy game for the Cityzens as they went on to claim another win in the Premier League.

This latest victory at Etihad means that Guardiola’s side are now third in the league table and are only a point away from Liverpool in the second place and a couple of points from the league leaders in Chelsea.

Manchester City will now return to the UEFA Champions League and are now scheduled to travel to Belgium for their away clash against Club Brugge. Also, Guardiola’s side will look to pick up a win following their 2-0 loss to PSG last month.
