According to a recent report, Newcastle United are now eyeing another Manchester City star after recently being linked with a move for unsettled winger Raheem Sterling.

The player linked with a loan deal to Newcastle in January is England International and one of City’s star defenders John Stones.

Last week, Mike Ashley’s reign at Newcastle United came to an end as Newcastle were taken over by one of the richest club owners in world football. Owing to their newfound enormous wealth, Newcastle have found themselves being linked to a number of world-class players.

This week the latest name linked with the Magpies is the three-time Premier League winner John Stones.

The report comes from the Newcastle Chronicle, which suggests that Newcastle are eyeing a possible swoop for John Stones, and owing to his lack of game this season for Manchester City they might make a loan move for him in the upcoming transfer window.

The report also says that sources at Manchester City believe Stones will soon desire to regularly play first-team football and the Newcastle offer could not have come at a better time for the English international.

With Ruben Dias and Ayermic Laporte in brilliant form and rock-solid at the back, it seems highly unlikely that Stones will get a start anytime soon.

Newcastle have conceded 16 goals this season, the joint highest in the premier league, this suggests they need a big revamp at the back and John Stones could be the first step towards that for the Magpies.

However, having recently signed a new five-year deal at Manchester City it seems highly unlikely that Stones would leave the Etihad anytime in the near future.

If you were Pep Guardiola would you let John Stones go out for a move in January or would you give him some more playtime in the premier league?
