Manchester City were disappointed to have missed out on a key name like Harry Kane this summer as they were desperate to fill the striker void in their roster. So far, this season, the Citizens have managed to cope without the presence of a “world-class” forward but often have struggled to put in a good attacking performance, therefore, indicating the glaring need for a proper no.9.

After missing out on Kane, the defending champions have reportedly turned their attention to another reputed attacker in Europe. Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland is no stranger to transfer interest and therefore has admirers in England, including Manchester City.

According to a recent report from the Times, Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola will hold talks with the Sky Blues in order to discuss a potential summer move for his ‘in-demand’ client. Raiola, who is also a legal representative to superstars like Pogba and De Ligt, will supposedly travel to the Etihad in January to decide the Norwegian’s future with the English outfit.

With a release clause of 64 million pounds set to kick in the summer of 2022, Haaland will undoubtedly become a ‘hot target’ for the elite clubs in Europe.

The Norwegian ace has been in brilliant touch this season as he has already scored seven goals in five appearances. The youngster has an official agreement with Dortmund which will see him stay with the club till the summer of 2024.

Can Manchester City win the Haaland race?

Apparently, they can. With Mino Raiola set to travel to Manchester in January, the Sky Blues will be desperate to strike a deal for the Dortmund man. In the present day scenario, Guardiola’s side has felt the absence of a top-quality forward in their attack, and have seen their false-nine strategy fail in important games. As a result, they would be eager to seal a summer move for their no.1 target by the end of the winter transfer window.
