Manchester City have been huge admirers of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, and are probably one of the favorites to land the Norwegian. The Sky Blues, of late, have been slightly erratic in their duties upfront and hence are desperate to sign a top striker by the end of this season.

Talking about top strikers, Haaland has become one of the best forwards in the modern game of football. The Leeds-born attacker has stacked up some brilliant figures for his present employers and thankfully shown no signs of slowing down at the current moment.

His great work in front of the goal is bound to catch attention, therefore, he has already become a top priority target for some of the elite clubs in Europe, including Manchester City. However, amidst all the interest, the Citizens have apparently been handed a slight boost in their chase for Haaland.

Former Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta has gone on to claim that Serie A clubs are not in contention to compete for the signature of the Norwegian superstar. His words were :

"Now it is impossible to see Haaland playing in Serie A. Italian clubs have absolutely no chance of signing him next summer."

The Italian executive’s words will be a piece of good news for Pep Guardiola’s side as they are expected to face a lot of heat for the transfer of Haaland. Besides City, top tier sides like Manchester United, PSG, Real Madrid, and even Bayern Munich are all vying to acquire the signature of the Dortmund man.

With Serie A sides ruled out, Can Manchester City win the Haaland race?

A top striker like Haaland will always receive interest from any top side in Europe. Therefore, it won’t be wise to think that City might dazzle all their way through to signing the forward. Their biggest competition could be Real Madrid as the La Liga giants have been massively backed to land the attacker next summer.

Pep Guardiola will himself have to take charge of this transfer as he would like to avoid missing out on the Norwegian. As a matter of fact, the Spaniard will have to do some convincing from his end so as to ensure that the player lands in the Blue outfit of Manchester.
