Manchester City: Pep Guardiola has summer plans for this Norwegian superstar
By Zoheb Alam
Manchester City may have missed out on the signature of Harry Kane this summer but still, it seems that the club is not ready to give up on their chase for a superstar striker. Now as per the latest reports, the club has reportedly prioritized the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
Norwegian football expert Andreas Korssund has recently revealed that City are ready to go all gun blazing for the signature of Haaland. Furthermore, he went on to claim that the Sky Blues are looking to set up a meet with Mino Riola in January to finalize a deal for the Dortmund attacker.
It is pertinent to note that the former RB Salzburg man will be available for only 75 million euros next summer. The 20-year-old has stacked up excellent goalscoring numbers with the German outfit and hence a lot of other elite sides are expected to battle for the signature of the youngster after the end of this season.
On the other hand, the Cityzens have looked slightly off-balance in their final third. The likes of Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres have done a decent job in the forward position, but the defending champions have often looked ‘clueless’ going forward.
Hence, a world-class striker like Haaland could solve City’s attacking problems, and also at the same time could help the club find the right successor for their recently departed Sergio Aguero.
Haaland will be a perfect fit for Manchester City
The Norwegian superstar will relish playing with superstars like Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish. This City squad has been in desperate need of a striker and hence this summer, the club was ready to splash up to 125 million pounds for Tottenham’s Harry Kane. But sadly, their efforts to land the Englishman tanked as soon as the Spurs forward declared himself unavailable for the transfer market.
Now, this could be a perfect chance for a youngster like Haaland to switch base to the Etihad as he would easily walk right into Guardiola’s starting side. Most importantly, the player could well be City’s last ‘missing piece’ to the Champions League puzzle- a competition which is yet to be won by the English outfit.
