Manchester City want RB Leipzig’s breakout star winger

According to recent reports, Manchester City are interested in bringing Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig’s breakout star and ready to fight teams like Chelsea for his signature. The player in question is the newest Bundesliga sensation, Christopher Nkunku.

Pep Guardiola is said to be a fan of midfield players who have well-rounded skills and versatility and these players always thrive under him. That’s why he opted to sign Jack Grealish this season for a British record fee and the reason why Kevin De Bruyne is always the first name on his team sheet.

However, in Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, Manchester City already have an abundance of such players.

But despite recent good performances on the pitch, Bernardo Silva is linked with a move away from the club. Barcelona and Bayern Munich are just a few of the clubs that are in the race to take the midfielder away from the Etihad.

So if the Portuguese does depart, Nkunku becomes a like-to-like replacement for Pep Guardiola.

According to French journalist Santi Aouna, Manchester City are one of three European elite clubs interested in signing 23-year-old RB Leipzig midfielder.

The same report notes that the youngster, just like his former teammates Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer, is ready to move on from Leipzig and take his career to the next level.

Real Madrid are also set to be very interested in the midfielder and already have a very good relationship with his agent Pini Zahavi. Chelsea is the other team interested in Nkunku.

The report also suggests that Zahavi has talked to representatives of all the three clubs and a transfer to one of these clubs in the summer of 2022 is likely.

However talented Nkunku might be, his purchase depends not only on City’s plans for next season but also the outgoing transfers.
