Manchester City were absolutely convinced that they would be able to land Harry Kane by the end of the recently concluded summer window but Tottenham Hotspurs’ firm stance on not wanting to let their main man leave meant that City would see two massive bids for the 28-year-old shot down by the North London club.

The Cityzens did not really have a satisfactory window despite signing Jack Grealish. The bottom line is that Manchester City failed to replace their club legend and record goal-scorer in Sergio Aguero despite having the resources to do so.

The lack of a proper finisher or a proper number nine was covered to an extent by the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres but the problem became very much evident in the 2-0 defeat against PSG wherein City created many chances but failed to capitalize on them.

City are likely to return this January to the market for a striker. Having said that, Sport Witness understands that the Cityzens are eyeing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Osimhen has made a bright start to his season, notching up six goals from as many games. Having said that, the Serie A side have consequently slapped a mammoth price tag on Osimhen.

Napoli are looking to recover as much as £103  million (€120 million) from the probable sale of Osimhen which roughly translates to double the amount that they paid for his services when they bought him from Lille.

It is further understood that the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid are also interested in signing the Nigerian international.

It is a surprise that City would be willing to pay such a massive sum for Osimhen, especially since they are considered to be one of the favorites to sign Erling Haaland from Dortmund next summer from Borussia Dortmund. Haaland’s contract has a release clause worth £77 million which only becomes active next summer and it is clear that City have the funds to complete that operation.
