Manchester City’s desire to replace Sergio Aguero has seen them pursue an expensive target like Harry Kane. In response, Tottenham is hell-bent on not letting their talisman leave this summer as the club heavily relies on the Englishman’s attacking duties and is ready to give their best efforts to retain him ahead of the new season.

If the latest rumors are anything to go by, Manchester City are ready to cough up 160 million pounds for the services of the striker. However, the latest claims by Fabrizio Romano have revealed that the English Champions are waiting for Kane to hold a meeting with Fabio Paratici to discuss a potential exit.

The plan to sign the 27-year-old has become one of the highest priorities for the Sky Blues. Most importantly, the team’s objective to lift the Champions League has probably forced them to break the bank this summer.

Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, too, has emerged as another top target for the Cityzens in the ongoing summer window. City’s desire to spend big is simply an indication of its willingness to achieve big things in the upcoming season.

One might ask whether Harry Kane is worth 160 million or not. There can be many reasons why spending a large sum of money for the English international can backfire for the Sky Blues.

But Manchester City do have a choice and it is……………….

To decide whether they need to exhaust their finances for Harry Kane or not. Keeping in mind, the club is not very confident in slotting  Gabriel Jesus as their primary striker, it does mean that the team needs a new no.9. However, spending 160 million for a trophyless striker might raise a lot of questions if the attacker is unable to yield the best results.

There is no doubt that the 27-year-old is one of the best strikers in the Premier League but the transfer valuation set by his employers is simply massive. In the past, Pep Guardiola has often decided not to play a striker and fortunately for him and Manchester City, his plan has worked more often than not.

The English Champions do have cheaper alternatives for Kane in the form of Danny Ings and Tammy Abraham. Both attackers have respectable numbers in front of the goal and hence can solve the club’s no.9 woes temporarily.

All I can say is that Pep Guardiola is under pressure to deliver the best results. If he feels that spending a mammoth fee for the Spurs talisman can help him achieve all his targets at the Etihad, then he should take this “pricey” leap of faith.
