Manchester City’s incredible winning streak continued at Goodison Park on Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Everton to give the Blues a double-digit advantage at the top of the Premier League level on games with the rest of the pack.

More from Game Review

The win was City’s 17th in a row in all competitions, extending their record-setting pace yet again as they continue to set the league alight. Despite the absences of İlkay Gündoğan and John Stones, who have been immense this season, City still managed to grab all three points against a very good side led by Carlo Ancelotti.

The Citizens went a goal up early through Phil Foden before Richarlison grabbed the equalizer in admittedly lucky fashion for the Toffees. While it seemed for a time that the result was not going to go City’s way, Riyad Mahrez cut in on his left from the edge of the area and found a moment of brilliance to beat Jordan Pickford before Bernardo Silva put the result beyond all doubt late on.

Since the draw at West Brom, no team in England has been good enough to keep up with City, and that seems set to continue. Despite a difficult run of fixtures, the team has had absolutely no problems, sweeping aside the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool, and Everton while scoring at least three in each of these matches.

They are not out of the woods just yet, however, as a key match against second-place Man United will go a long way in deciding if the Red Devils have any hope of catching their rivals. With Arsenal and fifth-placed West Ham also on the fixture list coupled with the return of the all-important Champions League, the fixtures are not slowing down by any means. Nevertheless, this is another incredible result for Pep Guardiola’s men, and they are a side to truly be admired.
