Manchester City are back to playing some of their best football after a rather slow start to the season. The Cityzens are currently bossing the Premier League and are five points ahead of second-placed Manchester United with a game in hand. The former Premier League champions also boast of the best defensive record in the Premier League thus far but manager Pep Guardiola will be nervous before the kick-off in the crunch tie against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Daily Mail understands that three key players in the Manchester City XI are on the sidelines due to injuries and illness. The three players mentioned in the source are Rodri, Fernandinho, and Ruben Dias.

Ruben Dias has been a revelation for Manchester City this season and is one of the key reasons why the Cityzens have got the best defensive record this season in the Premier League.

Rodri on the other hand was forced off in the 72nd minute in the 3-1 victory against Swansea City in the FA Cup. Guardiola is likely to miss the services of the Spanish midfielder who has been very important for the club in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne.

Fernandinho is battling some niggles and it remains unsure if he would be fit when the Sky Blues take on the Spurs on the 13th.

With a healthy lead of five points at the top of the table, Manchester City will play their extra game on Saturday and have an opportunity to extend their lead to eight points. An eight-point lead so deep into the season will be very beneficial and it will only make the job easier for Pep Guardiola and his men to take back the Premier League title from Liverpool.

After Tottenham, the Cityzens will take on Everton and Arsenal in that order and Pep will be hopeful of his player’s fitness ahead of a busy week.
