Aymeric Laporte has been one of the mainstays for Manchester City since his arrival from Atheltic Club in 2018. The French International however, has been pushed down the pecking order this season due to injuries and also the fact that Ruben Dias and John Stones have been sensational so far. The former Premier League champions are at the top of the table with a game in hand and much of that can be attributed to the defense of the Sky Blues which has hardly seemed loose. Speaking to BT Sport, as reported by Goal,  Aymeric Laporte hinted that a move might be on the cards for him this summer.

Laporte arrived at the Etihad Stadium back in 2018 for a record £57 million. The 26-year-old hasn’t featured much this season but did make a comeback into the team against Burnley. With Nathan Ake still injured, Laporte can still hope to gain back his place in the XI by seizing any opportunity that comes his way.

There are currently five center-backs at Manchester City out of which Eric Garcia looks all set to leave the Cityzens at the end of this season and Nathan Ake is on the injury list.

That brings us down to John Stones, Ruben Dias, and Aymeric Laporte. The partnership between Stones and Dias has been absolutely outstanding and some pundits have even gone on to extent of hailing Dias as one of the best singings made by Manchester City in recent times.

"At the moment I’m here, I’ll play, we’ll see what happens.I’m happy at Manchester City, I always thought I’d spend many years here. I hope that will happen.I will see what happens between now and the end of the season but for now I’m happy.”Source: Goal"

It is highly unlikely though. Laporte is expected to stay at Manchester City for the next few years and it is highly unlikely that the former Premier League champions would want to let go of one of their best players just because of one unsatisfactory season.

Having said that, Laporte has to fight for his place in a XI that does not seem to show any flaw. Except for the last 15 minutes against Sheffield United, the defense has looked at ease and has been calm even under heavy-pressure situations.

City fans will only hope that this dream run of the Sky Blues never stops.
