Manchester City claimed their 13th win in a row in all competitions with an impressive 2-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor. City have now kept six straight clean sheets in the league, although a big number appeared on after the Blues opened the scoring within three minutes through Gabriel Jesus. İlkay Gündoğan was once again immense in his best-ever season in a City shirt, picking up an assist for Raheem Sterling while dominating the play in the middle of the park.

It’s an excellent result once again as the team heads into a grueling run of fixtures that will make or break their season. City had been handed a comfortable December and January, and have taken the absolute maximum points following their shock draw against West Brom.

Rúben Dias is beginning to draw Virgil Van Dijk comparisons at the heart of this rock-solid defense, and John Stones and Aymeric Laporte were able to both find their way into the team next to him for the first time this season. Perhaps even more impressively, City have performed so well even without the presence of talisman Sergio Agüero for essentially the entirety of the season, as others have stepped up to fill the goalscoring void.

Burnley-Manchester City Preview: Calm before the storm. dark. Next

This is a team in prime form, and at the moment, no one looks capable of stopping them. Whether that continues amidst an incredibly difficult run of fixtures remains to be seen, but today was the latest example of a team playing in the form of champions. City look hungry, determined, and at their best, and the rest of the league has been put on alert.
