Manchester City were the dominant force throughout their Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal.

Manchester City were in full control as they advanced to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with a massive win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. After taking a 1-0 lead just minutes into the game, the Gunners managed an equalizer through Alexandre Lacazette that was well against the run of play. City, however, responded brilliantly in the second half, killing the game off in style to advance.

City have now once again made a deep run in the league cup as they chase their fourth consecutive title in the competition, which would tie an English record. Despite their struggles in the league and highly competitive game against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal earlier this season, they have looked excellent in this competition once again. The North London side are going through a spell of extremely poor form, but City were still able to compound the misery of a team that desperately needed some positive momentum.

Championship side Brentford are a surprise package available in the semi-final draw after beating Newcastle United 1-0, while the winners of Stoke City-Tottenham and Everton-Manchester United will also advance. City are undoubtedly the favorites in a competition they’ve won in four of the last five seasons, but there is still work to be done at the business end. Today’s result was an exciting glimpse into what this team can offer, but equally, it was against opposition in dire straits at the moment. The real work will continue with the draw, and then, the semi-final as City look to get the second half of their season on track.
