2. Increased attacking depth with Messi-De Bruyne partnership

Manchester City’s strength in recent years has been their attack and the pace embedded in it. Kevin De Bruyne has done a wonderful job for the Blues and is currently one of the best playmakers in Europe. His vision combined with his piercing passes to either Raheem Sterling or Riyad Mahrez makes him the brain of the Man City attack.

Lionel Messi is the best playmaker in the world and even the stats say so. Apart from providing assists, he is a prolific goal scorer and has the capability to score up to 40 goals every season while assisting on numerous occasions. De Bruyne and Messi together will create magic on the field. Moreover, Sergio Aguero is in the final year of his contract and it is unlikely that he will renew. Messi played as a striker for one season in club football and took his annual goal tally to 79 goals. It is a record that is yet to be broken though it looks unlikely that it’s ever going to be touched.

With the departure of Manchester City’s stalwart in David Silva, also known as the El Mago, Messi can do a lot better than just replacing him. The Blues have a lot of young talent which can be benefitted immensely even if Messi joins for only one season. Phil Foden is touted to be one of the upcoming talents in the midfield and his growth will be accelerated by just watching Messi firsthand.
