Manchester City climbed to fourth in the Premier League table, and just three points off the top, after a convincing 2-0 win against Fulham.

For the first time this season, Manchester City have won back to back league matches. Granted, both of these games came against Burnley and Fulham, two sides expected to be battling against the drop in 2020-21, but City managed to hold serve against opponents they need to be beating in order to contend for a title.

Now that the Blues are level with the rest of the league on ten matches played for the moment, they sit fourth in the table on 18 points, a much rosier image than what we have seen for much of the season. They now trail joint leaders Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool by three points, although they managed to take just one point from two matches against those potential rivals earlier this season.

On the day, however, City created a multitude of chances and really took the game to a struggling Fulham, who were unable to cope with an onslaught of chances and were fortunate to only lose by two goals. With a crucial Manchester Derby at Old Trafford next weekend, this was a game City absolutely needed to win, and they managed it while looking good in the process.

Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, and Riyad Mahrez, all of whom looked well below their usual standards to begin this season, have really looked in form these last two games, signaling that this could be a turning point for City as they look to edge closer to the top of the table during a busy festive period.
