Manchester City made it three wins from three in Group C with the win against Olympiacos.
Manchester City were once again on top form as they defeated Olympiacos 3-0 at home to make it nine points from their first three group matches. With a game at Liverpool at the weekend, both teams made massive midweek statements. The Reds battered Atalanta 5-0, who were denied a spot in the Champions League semi-finals last year by late drama from PSG, while City cruised to victory at home.
City were dominant throughout the first half, creating chances while Olympiacos did not find a single touch within City’s penalty area. The visitors improved in the second, but it was not enough to stop a City side that has picked up some real form. Ferran Torres found the back of the net once again, becoming the third-youngest player to score in four straight Champions League appearances, joining an elite list that includes just Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland ahead of him. Gabriel Jesus made his return from injury off the bench and scored an incredible goal, while João Cancelo joined the Brazilian as substitutes on the scoresheet with a late left-foot finish.

City were once again in full control, and all signs are good heading into this weekend’s massive clash. They have yet to be truly tested in the Champions League, but they will surely progress to the knockouts in straightforward fashion. The business end of European competition has not been kind to City during the Pep Guardiola era, and although this team does not look as dominant as those of the past, they are still a good side capable of doing some damage in Europe if they can keep this run of form going.
