Manchester City claimed an FA Cup Fifth Round victory over Sheffield Wednesday by a 1-0 scoreline to advance to the quarterfinals.
Manchester City dominated the match, holding 80% of possession and recording 20 shots to just one for Sheffield Wednesday, but in the end, just a lone controversial winner from Sergio Agüero proved to be the difference between the two sides at Hillsborough.
Defense
Claudio Bravo (GK): Wasn’t faced with a shot on target and just one overall in the match but looked secure. (6)
João Cancelo (RB): Nothing too spectacular, but it was good to see him back in the team as he looks to regain confidence. (6)
John Stones (CB): Looked much more calm and collected than his mistake in the Carabao Cup Final and almost scored. (6.5)
Nicolás Otamendi (CB): Hit the bar with a good header, and defended well to keep the clean sheet. (7)
Benjamin Mendy (LB): Had a thunderous strike saved onto the bar in what was nearly his first Manchester City goal, and got the assist for the winner in a great performance. (8)
Midfield
Rodri (CDM): Held Wednesday at bay and held control in a dominant midfield showing. (7)
Bernardo Silva (CAM): Showed tremendous work rate, but didn’t provide anything spectacular. (6.5)
David Silva (CAM): On the fringes of the game and looks as if he has lost a step. (5.5)

Attack
Riyad Mahrez (RW): Created chances with dribbling and getting the ball on his favored left foot, but couldn’t come up with end product. (7)
Sergio Agüero (ST): Grabbed the winning goal, arguably from an offside position, but VAR’s absence in this match helped tremendously to see City deservedly through. (8)
Gabriel Jesus (LW): Had some chances but proved unable to capitalize, although he appears to be continuing a run of good form. (7)
