I am going to start by quoting some lyrics from a well known song. Given the title and the Manchester connections you may be expecting a bit of cool Joy Division, how wrong you would be.

"Oh what an atmosphere I love a party with a happy atmosphere So let me take you there And you and I’ll be dancing in the cool night air"

Those words were sung by the British comedian Russ Abbott in his hit single of the same name. For me I quote them simply to make a slightly irreverent point. I have spent the last 24 hours reading so many critiques of the atmosphere and empty seats at the Etihad you could be forgiven for believing the Fulham game had a funereal atmosphere.

That is unfair to funerals. I have been to some which were joyous, albeit for a variety of reasons. But my point is there is nothing to be gained by keyboard warriors and fans sat at home moaning. In fact there is no point in the matchday fans moaning either.

Atmosphere is created in the stadium by fans. So rather than moan, simply make some noise. As Russ says, atmosphere can be contagious!

Sure the club can help with pricing and I think City should really value the match going fans much more than they do -but we all need to do our bit.
