Ilkay Gundogan

Came on to try and control the ball more but the game went on around him to a degree. However his cooler head was welcome in the last minutes as things threatened to conspire against us.

Gabriel Jesus

Some running and movement and a great assist for the third goal.

Adrian Bernabe

Not much time to shine, but looked solid and dependable. Needs more minutes if he is to show us what we are missing.

Man of the Match

There were some very worthy performances on the pitch from the young central defenders, Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Both looked incredibly composed in the face of what was an almost continual onslaught.

Garcia over committed a couple of times and had to work hard to reposition himself into the organisation of the defence. But this was a very strong overall performance.

Sterling with his two goals was a worthy Man of the Match winner but they obscured his reluctance to always put a shift in to cover when the ball was lost.

For me, the most assured performer on the night was the young City fan Taylor Harwood-Bellis who did not disappoint as he made the transition to the first team. With this kind of showing he is able to prove he may just be the real deal, and Txiki Bergiristain can put away that cheque book in January after all.
