Manchester City were poor as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat an Anfield that will have massive ramifications on the title race.

Manchester City now face a massive hill to climb if they hope to retain their Premier League crown for a third season running. Although they created several chances and held a good amount of possession, they were punished by a clinical Liverpool, who now sit nine points clear at the top.

City remain in fourth place with the defeat, and with a slew of injuries, appear as if they could drop further points this season, whereas Liverpool have lost just once in their last 50 league matches.

VAR also had controversy in this match, although it is not the reason City lost. They were soundly beaten by a better side, although the outcome could have been different if the decisions had fallen in their favor rather than that of the home side.

They now face a serious testing point in the season, as Liverpool look poised to play the part of runaway champions.
