Manchester City Women Duo Up For Player of the Month Award
By David Crook
Manchester City Women have two players up for the Bristol Motors PFA Player of the Month Award for September.
It has been a good September for Manchester City Women during which they have played 3 matches in the Womens Super League (WSL) where they have won all three games – 1-0 against Manchester United, 2-0 away at Reading and concluded with another 1-0 victory, this time away at Everton.
Given those results, which to the credit of Nick Cushing’s side have actually been sandwiched between an 11-1 aggregate win over Lugano in the Champions League and a 5-0 win over Leicester in the FA Cup, it is no surprise to see two Manchester City players up for the prestigious Player of the Month award.
The first player up is striker Pauline Bremer. It has been wonderful to see Pauline back in action for City after what has been a difficult start. Pauline joined City back in Summer 2017 when she left Lyon as part of the transfer deal which took Lucy Bronze the other way. However in her very first game for City she had a serious leg break and was out of action for over a year.
This season has seen Pauline Bremer start in attack for City due to injuries and she has seized her chance. In the WSL during September, Pauline has struck two goals to help City secure those three victories.
The other nominated player for City is our Captain Steph Houghton. Steph has continued to offer a solid prescence in our side, around which everything else has been built. As well as being part of a defence which has kept three clean sheets in the month, Steph has also scored a goal from a free kick – the match winning goal in the Everton game.
What is even better is that the winner of the award is actually decided by a fan vote which is open from now until 8AM on 14 October. So wherever you are in the world – you can click on the link here to vote!
So come on then City fans – make your voices heard and vote our players in the PFA Bristol Motors Player of the Month Award!
