The Attack
Bernardo Silva
After the exertions of the Watford game and the social media troubles I had half expected Bernardo to take a back seat, but that did not happen. Instead we got another busy performance but he was not at his imperious best. The linking up with Cancelo was not as seamless as I had hoped but it was good to see his dribbling and chasing back – both of which we needed at times.

Gabriel Jesus
Full of running and purpose, dragging the defence all over the pitch. Took his goal well and unlucky not to have another. If anything it is his finishing which seems the part of the game he most needs to work on. He must be a nightmare to play against, as his continual running is creating space all over the pitch. Would really like to see another game where Aguero and Jesus both play together if Mr Guardiola can somehow find a way to squeeze everyone in!

Raheem Sterling
Was the victim of some initial harsh treatment which went unpunished by referee Lee Mason, but then had the last laugh by powering through the whole field of play, whilst being buffeted by defenders and scoring the first goal. In the second half he dropped down the gears and was consequently much less involved in the action. A truly exciting player to watch who may well be on the verge of super stardom.
