One of those selfless and non flashy performances which helped to bind and support the side all over the pitch. Always offered support to the centre backs and also seemed to pop up to operate as a makeshift number 10 on occasions too. It is important that our young players get to see these kind of totally professional performances by our more established stars, even against lower League opposition.

David Silva

I am already beginning to mourn the inevitable, as this season will mark the departure of Silva. Until then we simply need to relax and enjoy every single performance. His skill full movement in the first half helped to unlock a stubborn Preston side and his goal was a just reward for his endeavours. Whether he will be able to sustain his early season form over the course of the next 9 months will be the question but right now we just to marvel.

Phil Foden

Surprised to see him start alongside David Silva because I tend to think of Foden as the replacement for David. This was a decent performance from Foden but he was not as involved in the proceedings as I would have liked to see. I think he may need a run of games to settle, but today he was trying almost too hard to make anything happen.
