Rodri

It was a surprise to see our new signing trusted so soon in such a high intensity match and Rodri did not disappoint. His passing and control was good under pressure. He had one notable shot on target saved by Lloris and should have had a penalty due to the challenge from Lamela. All in all this was a commanding performance and indicates still further how important he may become for our side.

Ilkay Gundogan

I like Gundogan as he is a cultured and focussed footballer, capable of impacting upon a game. Yet this was not his finest performance in a City shirt. He was a surprise on the team sheet and at times seemed a little off the pace. Some misplaced passes and conspired to miss a gilt edged scoring opportunity too. When Rodri went off it was Ilkay who moved into the defensive midfielder role and he performed those duties with aplomb.

Kevin De Bruyne

Made a big impact upon this match with two excellent assists and some tireless running and pressing of Spurs players. If we can keep him fit we have a great chance of retaining the title. He is a special special player. Could have had a goal too if only he had controlled his shot. Ran out of legs as the game went on suggesting he is still probably only at around 80%. Scary thought.
