Manchester City : Transfer Updates
By David Crook
As the transfer window enters the last few days we look at whether Manchester City are likely to make any further forays in the market.
There are few things more confusing in football at the moment than the out of synch transfer windows across all the major leagues. A complicated pattern emerges where Manchester City cannot buy any players after the English transfer window slams shut, but face the prospect of still losing players abroad!
It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming days, but about all we can actually guarantee is that City are unlikely to rush into anything. There is a calm and measured presence in our boardroom and this is unlikely to change.
There are two deals which appear most likely to happen in the next few days, barring any last minute hitches.

The Portuguese right back Cancelo is looking join from Juventus and indeed agreed a package some 2 months ago with City. The delay in concluding the deal has been all about the second part of this deal which sees Danilo, moving in the opposite direction.
Juventus and City appear to have agreed a combined deal in the region of €55 million. This seems to value Danilo at about €18 million, which for a Brazilian international is relative peanuts these days! According to reports in Italy, it is the contract demands of Danilo which have held up this deal so far.
City have already filled all 17 spaces in their squad for non home grown players so needed one player to leave to make room for anyone incoming. Given Cancelo can play in several different roles this deal seems like an upgrade for City.
The second deal appears to be the outgoing Leroy Sane. The dancing with Bayern Munich appears to have reached its natural conclusion and bar a formal announcement the dirty deed seems all but done.
Losing such an important and talented player at the height of their powers is uncommon for City. Hopefully we will not rue the deal, however as City fans we all fully expect Sane to score against us in a Champions League Final!
The departure of Sane will not see any like for like replacement. Instead City may utilise the cash to address their centre back shortage following Kompany’s defection to RS Anderlecht.
Whether City will be able to get such a deal over the line in the limited time left in the transfer window will be a challenge. A number of potential targets have been under observation but whether City will invest further will keep us all on our toes right up to the transfer deadline!
So expect some further news in the days ahead.
