Manchester City Should Not Sign Harry Maguire
By Dan Larsen
With a record transfer fee for a defender being bounced around for Harry Maguire, Manchester City would be wise to steer clear of him.
The summer transfer window is beginning to heat up!
Manchester City have been linked with several of the top players on the market, particularly in central midfield and defense where the team is short on options at the moment.
One of the individuals the club has been linked with is Leicester City center-back Harry Maguire.
Maguire has become a fixture at the heart of Leicester and England’s defense over the past two seasons. His height, strength, intelligence when reading the game, his leadership, and his elite ball-playing skills for a central defender, make him a natural fit for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Having seen their captain, Vincent Kompany, recently depart from the team, and Nicholas Otamendi desiring a move away too, Manchester City will need to bring another central defender into the fold this summer. Maguire would appear to be their ideal target, not just because of the skills he has, but because he’s considered a home grown player which is something City needs more of if they’re going to build a roster that complies with UEFA and Premier League Rules.
Signing Harry Maguire, however, would likely end up being a mistake for the club.
Though some of his skills would play well in Manchester City’s side, his limitations make him a dangerous fit. Let’s explore the possible risks of signing him.
