There has been a persistent rumour flying around the internet for a number of weeks which seems to be getting louder and louder.

No one doubts how in demand Pep Guardiola is at the moment. If anything his stock must have actually risen since he started to do what the pundits called impossible – revolutionising the English Premier League. With his trusted techniques and ever changing tactical approaches, he is clearly a nimble manager able to adjust his plan at short notice to maintain the intensity on the pitch.

His track record at Barcelona and Bayern Munich is fantastic and it is crazy to consider but he actually averages a trophy every 26 games!

Of course Manchester City built the ideal project for Pep and constructed the perfect club for him. They hired his friends and confidantes – Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano, to try and create the right environment and then simply waited for him to come. They presented a unique and interesting proposition to Pep – use our resources to create a dynasty founded around an attacking philosophy of beautiful football.

But regardless of how perfect the project is at Manchester City for Pep, we all know he will call time on his period here and move on – for what may well be his last role in club management. All of us fans would be happy to have Pep here forever but we are all wise enough to know that will never happen and when he feels it is time to go then he will leave with the blessing of the fans.

We can all see how much of himself Pep gives to his job. The level of intensity in his constant attention to every detail is immense. We all expect at some point he will need a break to recharge his batteries and may well take a year off to recover fully before going into his next role.

Yet, the extent of the project at City and the role of his friends within the set up, meaning he is remarkably free from outside political interference, should not be overlooked. Pep is a man of honour and integrity and is unlikely to walk away from these commitments at short notice.

Right now, Pep is actually under contract until 30 June 2021 and has talked as recently as last week about his plans to stay for this year and next – at the least. There has been an offer on the table to extend his stay and that will be in the background all of the time. A continuing vote of confidence from our owner Sheikh Mansour.

Yet there has been a continual rumour in the press that Juventus are attempting to lure Pep to Serie A, and that at this very moment they have a managerial vacancy. I have no doubt at all that Pep is the first choice of Juventus to be their next manager, but it is not going to happen. Not at this time.

Pep intends to see out his Manchester City contract at the very least. When he eventually comes to move on from City then Serie A will probably be his most likely destination. In fact at his last Press Conference a somewhat tetchy Pep directly said the rumour of him going to Juventus was not true.
