Fernandinho

Lovely to see our great Brazilian back on the pitch and making things happen. We always look so much more solid with him as the anchor of our side. I was surprised he was risked given the games we have coming up but Pep is showing every game and every opponent maximum respect. I feel he could do with practising his shooting though!

Phil Foden

So, has more minutes for the first team at age 18 than Beckham did and Guardiola still receives criticism tHat Foden is not getting enough game time! What we are seeing here is a player of uniqure potential being carefully managed and integrated into a side of world class players. Last night he showed a willingness to run and chase the ball, and broke quickly to lead several attacks. unlucky not to add a goal to his game.

Kevin De Bruyne

This was all a bit surprising. We were expecting to see our Kevin gingerly return over several games before hitting any key notes. That is not what happened here. De Bruyne looked a lot like he did last season. Hungry and focussed. Driving on his own performance and those of his team mates too. Great opening goal. Played a full 90 minutes too.
