Not a year goes by where Sergio Aguero isn’t hammering goals in for Manchester City.

Since he arrived in the fateful summer of 2011, Aguero has been the man carrying the bulk of the goal scoring responsibilities for the side. As other forwards have come and gone at the club, Aguero has remained a model of consistency and stability.

As he’s always done, Aguero has been the man most responsible for finishing off the chances created by the beautiful build-up play of the side.

In 37 appearances across all competitions so far this season, Aguero has 28 goals and 7 assists. He leads the league with 18 goals. He’s just two goals behind his total from last season, despite having played just under 300 fewer minutes, and has already matched his assist total from last year too.

His form rating in the league stands at a 7.55, which is second best on the club, and is the 12th best rating in the world. He’s posted a similar rating in the UCL as well, at a 7.59, where he’s contributed five goals in five appearances for the side.

Aguero, however, provides more than just goals. He’s been heavily involved in build-up play, coming deeper into the midfield to help the attack move forward, or moving out wide when the situation requires.  His seven assists rank among the highest totals of his career, and his pass completion percentage of 84.9% in the league stands as the second best in the league in his career.

He’s mastered the responsibilities that come with leading the press, pushing the back line and keeping the proper position when City lose possession. He’s also working tirelessly to track back and defend when the City defense has needed it.

Few forwards in the world have as many things to balance during a game as Sergio Aguero does for City. Yet, despite this, Aguero has maintained his clinicalness in front of goal.

Like long-time teammate, David Silva, Aguero entered a top-ten list in EPL history earlier this year. As it stands, Aguero ranks 8th on the EPL all-time goal-scoring list with 161 goals. By season’s end, he’ll likely end up in sole possession of six place.

Even in a side full of world-class players, Aguero stands out.

One player, however, may stand above the rest this season: Raheem Sterling.
