This was a great game for Silky Ilkay to show off his range of passing. We saw his threaded balls, his curved passes and his chipped passes today. Released the runners every time and was responsible for starting much of our attacking play from his deep lying role.

He seemed to be still running around the Etihad pitch from the Watford game. He just never stops scampering about. He hounded every lost ball and had a foot in every tackle and forced error. Got on the score sheet today too with a nice shot and won a penalty.

Back to his imperious best in this match. Gliding around the pitch and linking the play neatly. He was too quick for Schalke who just tried to slow him down by nefarious means, clipping his ankles and standing on his feet. He just picked himself up and carried on. Was rested with half an hour left having accomplished his mission.
