Many Manchester City fans are waking up to news stories this morning suggesting a deal has been agreed.

This is a time of siege for Manchester City fans. We are experiencing a coordinated and concerted effort to try to discredit the achievements of the Club in recent years. We are under attack from almost every source and although we expect nothing to come from most of these allegations, mud sticks – regardless of where it is thrown from or who is doing the throwing.

The latest news story emerging from Italian news papers is that Pep has verbally agreed to join Juventus and the suggestion is he would be joining this summer for a 4 year contract. I think this is just another coordinated part of the attack upon Manchester City, attempting to further destabilise the Club and our real quadruple ambitions by suggesting our manager is about to leave us in a time of crisis.

There may well be some truth in parts of the story. I have no doubt that Juventus covet our in demand manager. I also have no doubt that the only real challenge left to him in club football, after his exertions in Spain, Germany and England remains Italy.

What I do not think is true is that Guardiola would walk out on his existing Manchester City contract and his friends who run our Club. Pep is under contract until the end of  2020/21 season and I expect him to see out that contract unless he requires a break from exhaustion.

Whilst I do think Guardiola will go to Italy, I would be surprised if it was to Juventus. They have just won 8 titles and I cannot see where the challenge is in that for him. It would be like going to manage Celtic. I could be wrong but I suspect he will be more taken by a project to build success in what is likely to be his last club football job.

So it’s another slur, another slight on our Club, another attempt to cause friction and pain whilst we prepare for an important match. Expect more to come. There will be more stories. Our best players will be linked with moves too.

But as fans all we can do is keep our heads and remain calm. This is a great and historic club and we will endure. However, whilst all of this is going on it may be pertinent to remember the names of those who are fanning the flames.
