MCS: Who is it aimed at? Is it just aimed at young fans?

If you’re a City fan, then you are the target market. Discord is primarily used by a younger demographic but we are more or a less a chat room for anyone. Our Discord server is a respectful, moderated environment for people to talk about City, football, Fantasy League or whatever they would choose. We have members and moderators from all over the world. Why would fans choose to use it rather than traditional forums like blue moon? The reason I started the server was for a ‘live’ feeling. I’m a big user of Twitter and frequent Blue Moon and there’s a lot of great conversation that can be had on those platforms. I feel like what we offer at /mcfc Discord is the ability to talk directly to people instantly, get a feel for a live reaction to in game events and the ability to discuss things at length in real time. The penalty shootout during the Carabou Cup Final vs Chelsea was a brilliant time to be involved in the server as everyone was confident, terrified and everywhere in between and celebrating the cup win with passionate fans together felt a lot more special than watching on my own at home.

MCS: We firmly believe that every single different piece of content or provider about Man City all adds value and we can all share in the success.We have been keen to highlight new developments like Man City Fan TV as it started, What role do you think you can play in the mcfc universe?

The City fan base is a special one. We’re passionate, self deprecating and always waiting for ‘Typical City’ to return. This sense of community brings passionate, brilliant people together. I have spoken to a number of driven fans with a burning desire to talk about, write about and be a part of City fan culture. I’m not attempting to compete with any creators or any already established platforms, but to offer a place for people to actually talk to one another without self promotion or agenda. I am determined to add more blogs and podcasts to my server as with such a brilliant fan base that we have we should be looking to help each other, share outstanding work and try and get the hard work of all our fan sites together. Collaboration has helped me launch this server and it is the best way to get content in front of people. Are you planning to keep discord free to use? Discord is free and will always be free. There are some very small costs in running the server but I have taken these on as I’m so confident that this community will grow and grow.

MCS: What do you need from us City fans to help you out?

We’ve had support from some big hitters in City Twitter so please retweet if you see those to spread the world. I want to improve and am committed to making this a place people choose to be in so I’m really receptive to ideas and change, just let me know.
