Manchester City v Arsenal : Match Preview
By David Crook
Manchester City face a home match against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in the first of three hard matches in this week.
Our recent record against Arsenal has been surprisingly good, especially since the defeat at Wembley in 2017. But some of this has been because Arsenal have been a football club in transition, away from the Arsene Wenger era and City have been a Club at the top of their game.
Quite how these two things will pan out in this game though may be anyone’s guess! City are coming into the match following a loss against Newcastle which was entirely of their own making. They simply failed to play against Newcastle. Arsenal though have been able to claw some results out against weaker sides and have pulled off some upsets against better sides.

Arsenal are clearly an improvement over recent seasons and it would be wrong to write them off against City. Indeed Arsenal have a very strong attacking line up and are likely to cause City problems. City have conceded goals against much poorer sides so the better attackers will likely present some panic in our defence. The thought of Zinchenko or even Walker up against Aubameyang and Lacazette may be enough to cause us City fans ome palpitations.
Of course Arsenal are weaker in midfield and defence so as long as we are on top of our performances then we should be able to maintain control of this match. It is worth pointing out that Dennis Suarez is likely to make his Arsenal debut in this game and as a City old boy with a point to prove I think we know how that is likely to end. He is almost guaranteed a goal.
Overall though City should have too much in the tank to be subdued by Arsenal but are unlikely to keep a clean sheet. It will be interesting to see how City cope with the pressure after their recent poor performance especially now as they have fallen to third in the table.
