Man City Square reviews the Manchester City player performances in the Premier League defeat away to Newcastle United and tries hard to find a Man of the match performance.
Ederson
Not at fault for the first goal and the penalty was hit so hard he had no chance. Most worrying thing was he appeared to suffer an injury to his left knee which would be a blow considering the schedule of games we have to face.

Kyle Walker
Not looking solid at the moment. Panicked each time he lost possession.

John Stones
Some comfortable passing but collectively the team should have done better when Newcastle scored their first. After we went behind we needed some leadership on the pitch which was lacking.

Aymeric Laporte
His most wobbly game since joining. With hindsight the rotation and rest may not have done him any favours.

Danilo
After impressing in recent games at left back, today he was caught out a number of times. He also slowed down the play.
Player Rating 6
Fernandinho
Not a great game for Fernandinho who was placed under pressure from the off and pressed every time he had the ball. This lead to him being off the pace of the game and careless in his passing. Gave the game away with a mistake in the penalty area.
Player Rating 6
David Silva
Wasteful and sloppy in possession. I have never written those words before.
Player Rating 6
Kevin De Bruyne
Some good moments but a couple of bad tackles left him at risk of a red card and he was withdrawn as a precaution. After he went we looked less likely to score.
Player Rating 6
Raheem Sterling
Anonymous largely throughout.
Player Rating 5
Leroy Sane
Missing some of the hunger. Maybe the rest has not helped.
Player Rating 6
Sergio Aguero
Took both his goals well. Shame that only one counted.

Man City Square Man of the Match
Unusually ticky to try and pick a Man of the Match because there were no stand out performances on the pitch. So in recognition of his goal after 24 seconds, which may have been the only positive action I can recall from any player in thew game, I have selected Sergio Aguero.
