Manchester City 5 Burnley 0 : Player Ratings
By David Crook
Man City Square review the Manchester City player performances in the FA Cup 4th round match against Burnley and selects a Man of the Match.
Ederson
You have to feel for Ederson in games against Burnley. He had so little to do during the game. Hardly any goal kicks, no saves of note. Whether under orders from Pep or not despite having nothing to do in the rain, he barely even strayed into midfield. This was a disciplined performance.

Kyle Walker
Had a few moments early in the first half, where he made a mistake and then tried to rectify it. Stones and the midfield then moved closer to him to quell any panic. Still looking like he has a mistake in him every game.

John Stones
Solid and classy performance but realistically he had little to do as Burnley posed so little threat. Instead he spent most of the match knocking the ball around with short passes. I have no doubt the passing completion stats will be impressive.
Player Rating 7
Nicolas Otamendi
Made one error which luckily was not punished. Otherwise solid.
Player Rating 7
Danilo
Looking stronger at left back with every passing game.
Player Rating 7
Fernandinho
Adds such confidence to our play. When he was withdrawn without any injury but just for rest we all breathed a sigh of relief.
Player Rating 7
Kevin De Bruyne
Beginning to get back to his performances of last season. Today he controlled the game, Scored and assisted.
Player Rating 8
Ilkay Gundogan
A game which was perfectly suited to him. Had an excellent chance to open the scoring after a wonderful De Bruyne pass.
Player Rating 7
Bernardo Silva
Another busy performance, but this time he was back on the wing. Took his goal well and unlucky not to have another.
Player Rating 8
Riyad Mahrez
Frustrating performance because he has so much talent but does not seem to be performing at the levels he has in the past.
Player Rating 7
Gabriel Jesus
Lovely to see dribbling skills returning to Jesus as his confidence has returned. He made the first goal through his own skill.

Substitutes
Phil Foden
Looked busy without really impressing.
Player Rating 7
David Silva
Must have made Burnley heads sink when he came on. Played like he usually does.
Player Rating 7
Sergio Aguero
Took his penalty well.
Player Rating 7
Man City Square Man of the Match
With a goal and at least one assist (do you get an assist for an own goal?) the stand out performer was Kevin De Bruyne who is beginning to look like the player we were lucky to have last season.
