Man City Square reviews the Manchester City player performances in the win against Huddersfield Town and awards marks out of ten, selecting one player as the Man of the Match
Ederson
This was not a game where Ederson got to show off any of his walkabout skills, instead he made one traditional save of note. Whether he was on best behaviour after Pep’s reaction to his role in midfield in the previous game or was just so bored he could not be bothered.
Player Rating 7
Kyle Walker
Continues to look somewhat out of sorts and laboured. Maybe he could do with a rest to fully recharge after what has been a really busy eighteen months.
Player Rating 6
Nicolas Otamendi
The kind of physical presence we needed against a taller and stronger Huddersfield side, but there was so little meaningful threat posed by them that he had little to do.
Player Rating 6
Aymeric Laporte
Beginning to develop an interesting understanding with Danilo on the left hand side. Took one hard knock in the first half.

Danilo
Another solid performance from the player who is currently our most consistent full back. Has benefitted from a run of games and is beginning to look like a real Brazilian player. His goal was well taken but it emboldened him into similar shooting which was off target.
Player Rating 7
Fernandinho
A metronome of passing in the game, but was slow and clattered on occasion. He was withdrawn after the third goal for protection.
Player Rating 6
Kevin De Bruyne
One excellent pass for the non penalty on Raheem but otherwise nothing distinct can be reported. Had a useful run out which lasted 90 minutes.
Player Rating 6
Ilkay Gundogan
Worked quietly throughout and showed some flashes of quality but rarely moved into any kind of higher gear even when City stepped up the play in the beginning of the second half.
Player Rating 6
Leroy Sane
The standout performer who created one goal and scored another.
Player Rating 8
Raheem Sterling
Took his goal well with a stooping header. Subjected to a clear penalty and booed for no real reason by the Huddersfield fans.
Player Rating 7
Sergio Aguero
Quiet game where he failed to press much at all.
Player Rating 6
Substitutes
David Silva
We looked more comfortable once he came on.
Player Rating 6
Fabian Delph
Nearly put the clean sheet at risk in the last minute with a poor piece of defending.
Player Rating 6
Bernardo
Buzzed around with some intensity when he came on.
