Southampton 1 Manchester City 3 Player Ratings
By David Crook
Man City Square reviews the Manchester City player performances in the win against Southampton and selects a Man of the Match
Ederson
Fantastic assured display from the keeper who I swear will be the death of me. His insane passing under pressure was today tethered to a brilliant save.
Player Rating 9
Danilo
Good display from a player that has never really had the benefit of a run of games since joining. Should get Rotherham and Burton games in the next few weeks which will help him be a genuine contender for our right back slot.
Player Rating 8
Vincent Kompany
Good to see the captain back again and he helped to settle the nerves after the equaliser. Looked tired towards the end. And he took a card for the team.

Aymeric Laporte
A trademark comprehensive display from our best defender.

Oleks Zinchenko
He made a mistake for their goal and then nearly gave away a penalty. But he recovered well and even got an assist. It is how you recover from the mistakes which defines players and Zinchenko did well to respond.
Player Rating 7
Fernandinho
The best player on the pitch for me. He controlled the pace of the game and did not look rusty. Delivered just when we most needed it. He was so important they tried to neutralise him. I hope he is fit to face Liverpool.
Player Rating 9
David Silva
We look so much more balanced with Silva linking the play. He comes deep and looks all the time for options, running incessantly. Surprised he stayed on the pitch and was not rested in the second half.
Player Rating 8
Bernardo Silva
Sharper today than he has been. Made the Silva goal.
Player Rating 7
Raheem Sterling
Very busy performance today on the left. Created the deflected goal and was a tireless nuisance throughout.
Player Rating 9
Sergio Aguero
A better performance from Sergio who scored 1 with his head but probably spurned easier chances. He scores in bunches so this is a good sign going into the Liverpool game.
Player Rating 7
Riyad Mahrez
Frustrating performance. Unwilling to tackle to retrieve the ball. Not keen on running to help the side. Picked the wrong options when through on goal. Mahrez needs to step up his performance, he clearly has ability.
Player Rating 6
Substitutes
Leroy Sane
Not enough time to impact the game, but was probably the last thing the full back wanted to see.
Player Rating 6
Kyle Walker
A little run out. Hopefully he will benefit from his rest.
Player Rating 6
Gabriel Jesus
Not much to do since coming on.
