The Final Inquest: Chelsea v Manchester City Player Ratings
By David Crook
There has been some time for the dust to settle since Manchester City recorded their first Premier League defeat of the season against Chelsea
Man City Square believe that time may be a great healer and has allowed the benefit of time to consider the player performances and to select a Manchester City player of the match.
Ederson
No time for bored Ederson to emerge but should have done more with the Kante strike.
Player Rating 6
Kyle Walker
One of those games where he was cocky rather than comfortable and added little to our team, leaving us under pressure.

John Stones
A decidely unassured performance from someone who has looked classy in every game.
Player Rating 5
Aymeric Laporte
The record of him winning every league game he has played has ended. Too often he lost the Chelsea players.
Player Rating 5
Fabian Delph
Looked a million miles away from the left back of last season and on this performance we need to add cover for Mendy as soon as we can. I can feel a “basics of football” rant coming on.
Player Rating 5
Fernandinho
Out of sorts in this game and consequently we suffered as a defensive unit. Looking tired.
Player Rating 5
David Silva
Curiously absent from any meaningful contribution and that is the first time I have said this at any time in the last few seasons.
Player Rating 5
Bernardo Silva
One of our stand out performers of the season was nullified.
Player Rating 5
Raheem Sterling
Deployed as a false 9, a midfielder and on both wings at various points in the game and whilst he was busy, he never looked like turning the game.
Player Rating 6
Leroy Sane
Struggled to get involved in what became a flat team performance.
Player Rating 4
Riyad Mahrez
Nullified both on the wing and as a false number 9.
Player Rating 5
Substitutes
Gabriel Jesus
This game did nothing to improve his confidence.
Player Rating 5
Ilkay Gundogan
Difficult to recall much contribution in the key parts of the pitch.
Player Rating 5
Phil Foden
Introduced into a flat performance when hopelessly chasing the game.

Man City Square Man of the Match
This has generated some discussion. It is not an easy pick given the performances but it is not coincidence that so many of team failed to perform. We have to give credit to the Chelsea team who ensured none of our players emerged with much credit.
The Man City Square Man of the Match goes to
Raheem Sterling
