Watford 1 Manchester City 2: Player Ratings
By David Crook
ManCitySquare review the Manchester City Player Performances in the hard fought victory against Watford and pick a Player of the Match
Ederson
An exciting game by Ederson standards where he usually spends so much time in different states of boredom. A no look pass and some saves alongside his usual excellent distribution.
Player Rating 8
Kyle Walker
Energetic and assured. We look so much more solid with Walker on the right hand side.
Player Rating 7
John Stones
A confident performance alongside Kompany which almost saw them swopping traditional roles – with Stones in combative mode and Kompany passing between the lines to launch attacks.
Player Rating 8
Vincent Kompany
A solid return to action by our Club Captain. Seemed to have cramp by the end and reinforcements had to be introduced.
Player Rating 7
Fabian Delph
A good solid performance, but gave the ball away for their goal and he cannot afford anymore lapses in concentration.

Fernandinho
Another excellent demonstration of the defensive midfield requirements under Pep Guardiola. Noticeably tired towards the end and we surely need to add some cover in January.
Player Rating 8
David Silva
We kept possession when he was on the pitch to link the play, but were markedly weaker when he was substituted for the fresh legs of Gundogan.
Player Rating 8
Bernardo Silva
Industrious as usual but some passes went astray again which could have resulted in us losing goals against a better side.
Player Rating 7
Leroy Sane
Explosive throughout the game. Took his goal well.
Player Rating 8
Riyad Mahrez
A goal and an assist despite simply coming inside every time he got the ball on the right wing. Surely if he was up against a better full back he would not have had such an easy evening.
Player Rating 8
Gabriel Jesus
Covers the space well and creates chances for the midfield, but his lack of precision in his shooting is undermining his confidence.
Player Rating 7
Substitutes
Ilkay Gundogan
Slowed the game down and gave away too many passes.
Player Rating 6
Nicolas Otamendi
Stepped into the fray when called upon and looked combative and ready.
Player Rating 7
Aymeric Laporte
Another assured display.

With an assist and a goal this game belonged to Mahrez.
