Detailed reports have begun to emerge that Manchester City wonder kid Phil Foden has agreed a new contract
Manchester City starlet Phil Foden, lovingly called the Stockport Iniesta by the adoring Manchester City fans, has reportedly agreed a new 6 year contract with Manchester City Football Club.
Foden has been with Manchester City since age 7 and has represented the Club at all levels. He formed part a major part of the celebrated trio of attacking talent at the City Elite Development Squad a couple of years ago alongside Jadon Sancho and Brahim Diaz.
Upon Guardiola’s arrival at the Club these three young players were promoted to the First Team Squad and have taken part in first team training. All 3 of these players were name checked publicly not only by Guardiola as being an essential part of the Manchester City future, but also by Chief Executive Khaldoon Mubarek.
Since those lofty comments and the elevation of these players, all have been involved in contract stand offs with Manchester City.

Sancho wanted assurances about game time which City rightfully would not provide, not even established first team players have that privilege- instead Guardiola’s plans are founded on players earning their position on the team sheet through hard work in training. Sancho was removed from the US travelling party in Summer 2017 and responded by going AWOL.
City reluctantly agreed a sale abroad retaining healthy first options and a percentage of future sale. But Sancho was not indulged by City and the manner of his leaving left a bitter after taste.
Diaz is currently also refusing to commit any long term future to City. As a result his appearance time for the first team has been reduced and this reinforces the contract stand off in a vicious circle.
Foden though, much to the delight of the City faithfull, has agreed a new deal. This new deal is heavily incentivised with extra money for performances. It is reputedly a significant increase in his current £15k a week.
What is really music to the ears of fans though is this is a 6 year deal, taking him up to 2024. This means he follows the new contracts agreed in the last year for Fernandinho, Sterling, Aguero, Jesus, Silva, Ederson and Guardiola. A roaring enforcement of our recruitment policy and endorsement of our Club.
Now the stand out player of the 2018 Under 17 World Cup really has a chance to cement his position within our team, potentially to inherit the position of David Silva.
Foden has the chance to continue his development at the best Club in the World under the guidance of the best coach. This may also turn into a fantastic bonus for fans of England in the years to come.
