Manchester City v Manchester United Player Ratings
By David Crook
ManCitySquare reviews the Manchester City game against Manchester United and considers the player performances and selects a Man of the Match.
Ederson
Looked assured as usual in possession and treated us today to a full range of passing. Although the Bored Ederson reappeared and he brought down Lukaku for a penalty which he got nowhere near.
Rating 7
Kyle Walker
Another solid and dependable appearance, as Walker snuffed out most United wing play and linked well with his midfield. The balance between Stones and Walker on the right side looks strong and measured.
Rating 7
Benjamin Mendy
Linked well along the left and effectively reduced Manchester United attacking options significantly. There will be harder games in the months ahead for Mendy.
Rating 7
Aymeric Laporte
The statistic which surrounds and defines Laporte continues to grow. He remains unbeaten in the matches he has played since joining and it is easy to see why. Assured and committed. The partnership with Stones grows with each minute together on the field.
Rating 8
John Stones
The right hand side of our defence is firmly established and Stones and Laporte are keping Kompany and Otamendi out of our side, which did not seem likely last season. Stones looked solid today.
Rating 8
Fernandinho
Rolling back the years with this industrious display, he even found time to berate his own team for not working hard enough.
Rating 8
Bernardo
The impending return of Kevin De Bruyne will hold no fear for Bernardo whose has cemented his position in this team. Busy and skillful, he was involved in our best moments from fizzing a shot in the opening minutes to lofting an exquisite pass for the 3rd goal.
Rating 9
David Silva
This was a magnificent performance of class and resilience as Silva mesmerised on the ball. Never wasting a pass and looking moment like one of the best players I have ever seen. Outstanding.
Rating 10
Riyad Mahrez
Selected over Sane today, probably because of the extra work he is willing to do in recovery of the ball. A good game throughout and menacing.

Sergio Aguero
The Silver Fox in the box has an impeccable record against United and he took his chance well and from the kind of angle he used to score regularly from in the past.
Rating 9
Raheem Sterling
Another tricky performance which also involved some lovely keep ball much to the annoyance of the visiting players. Dangerous all of the time.

ManCitySquare Man of The Match
At the risk of beginning to sound repetitive, this was an imperious display by David Silva. It is astonishing to think he may be getting better at age 32,
