Manchester City 4 Wins at Wembley Stadium in 2018
By David Crook
Manchester City Continue to Set New Records
For many years when I was growing up and following Manchester City the thought of following my team to Wembley was little more than a dream. It seemed about as realistic as being in The Dukes of Hazzard or marrying Lynda Carter. Yet somehow Manchester City have played there 4 times so far in 2018, and won on all 4 occasions.
Of course it helps when Premier League Clubs like Tottenham Hotspur play their home games at Wembley Stadium. In the past the only games played at Wembley were finals, but nevertheless the idea of going to Wembley 4 times in 10 months is pretty impressive.

Just for the record the 4 games we have played there in 2018 started with a Carabao Cup Final victory over Arsenal back in a very cold February day. Manchester city ran out comfortable 3:0 winners to seal their first silverware of the Pep Guardiola era. This was a stellar performance by Manchester City as they swept Arsenal aside.
City were back at Wembley to face a difficult looking game against Tottenham a matter of weeks after the Cup Final victory against Arsenal. This was the victory which ended up securing us our Premier League Title as Manchester United inexplicably lost to West Brom the following day. The victory against Tottenham was another imperious performance by the mighty blues as Spurs were crushed 3:1 with goals by Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling,
The next victory at Wembley came in the Community Shield, the traditional curtain raiser to the new 2018/19 season. Despite the rigours of the World Cup and the sheer number of players who had been involved throughout that tournament, City put in a comprehensive and high intensity display to defeat Chelsea 2:0 and win the trophy. The fact the win saw Sergio Aguero achieve his 200th goal for Manchester City seemed all the more fitting for the celebrations which followed.
The 4th consecutive victory at Wembley stadium was yesterdays 1:0 win against Tottenham Hostpur thanks to a solitary Riyad Mahrez goal. So this victory sealed our 4 victories at Wembley during 2018 which has seen Manchester City claim 6 points and 2 trophies there.
So from playing there rarely it is really now a case of can we play there every week?
