The attackers are rated considerably highly than our defensive stars due to much of the play being in their half. This was largely thankful to the possession which the central midfield were able to control the game and dictate the tempo.

Fernandinho 7

The Brazilian has been sloppy in recent times but showed the Fernandinho of last season in parts of the game. The introduction of John Stones in his position will hopefully allow the player to rest so he can save his best performances for the more important games.

Ilkay Gundogan 8 Man of the Match

The German midfielder has faced a lot of criticism in recent weeks for his performances but showed what he is capable of yesterday. The performance and link-up play was superb and was topped by a finish that couldn’t be further in the corner, if he tried again. Assisted while often providing the pass prior to the assist for other shot attempts.

Bernardo Silva 7.5

The goal of the match for me, whether he meant or not. The season’s most consistent and impressive performer has had another good performance in the middle of the park, where he is looking more and more comfortable. Often portrays his namesake, David Silva, with his slick passing and the link-up play.

Raheem Sterling 7.5

Intelligent and direct running constantly put the defence on the back foot, while his intelligence and link-up play was impressive with the strikers and other attackers. Always has impressive performances when playing with Sane and Aguero.

Leroy Sane 7

Pace, dribbling and direct running was similar to Sterling but failed to match the Englishman as he was more impressive outside the box. Assisted Bernardo Silva for his flicked header. A remarkable improvement from the start of the season.

Sergio Aguero 7.5

Three-hundredth appearance in a City shirt and he marked it with a goal and set the club on the way to an impressive performance. Would have been disappointed with the substitution but can be proud of his record, which will continue to flourish .
