There is one team in this pot based on squad quality that should be avoided and that team is Inter Milan.
Due to their exodus from European competitions for many years, they now found themselves without the required coefficients to compete with big boys in certain pots. They stand out as a team to avoid but a trip to Milan will be nice should it come around.
Chinese millions have allowed Luciano Spalletti to challenge for Serie A title this season, with Nainggolan joining along with the loan signings Keita Balde and Sime Vrsaljko. However, the most intriguing piece of transfer business was the signing of Lautaro Martinez who will bring flair and skill to the attacking double of Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic.
The Argentine youngster offers a lot of potential to be one of the world’s best but now must prove himself in a better league, whilst improving his technical ability and tactical knowledge.
A trip to the Istanbul’s cauldron of fire against Galatasaray will also not be ideal but could be an easy three points home and away, with Hoffenheim only dangerous through their young manager Julian Nagelsmann.
The other teams will not pose a considerable threat to the English champions, although Red Star Belgrade beat strong competitors Red Bull Salzburg over two legs. Young Boys eliminated Dinamo Zagreb and AEK Athens overcame Celtic along the way to make their returns to the competition.
A trip to Bern, Brugge, Athens or Pilsen will be fancied by many as Manchester City fans clock up their air miles to support their team in the quest for further glory at the Etihad Stadium.
