What next for the Ivorian?

Toure has been without a club since his contract expired at Manchester City. Yesterday that appeared to change as Seluk coyly tweeted his client had completed a medical in London and agreed a deal with his new club.

Seluk relished the intrigue this created and used the opportunity to rubbish clubs such as West Ham United and Crystal Palace.

‘It’s not them’ said Seluk because Toure plays for champions.

Although Toure completed a medical in London, he has reportedly signed a deal with Olympiakos, probable conquerors of Burnley for passage in to the Europa League.

Toure has prior links to Olympiakos having previously played there from 2005 to 2007, during which time he won the league and cup double. Whether or not Toure proves a coup for Olympiakos, whether he is able to assist their brand and growth as Greek football still seeks to recover from the knock on effects of austerity remains to be seen.

Having not yet seen an official announcement I am also wondering whether the delay is just because Seluk is hoping to get a better offer by making sure no one has forgot Toure.

The best of Toure has passed

So I am not sure if I will ever have the chance to see Toure again in full flight.

It was a joy to behold and I am thankful for the memories.

He made a difference and there is not much more you can want than that. I have largely forgiven his antics with his birthday and cake and his wages, I can view it all now as the comedy it was.

I won’t be sorry to see the back of Seluk and believe we will hear more from him as his players inevitably decline.

I suspect Toure will seek to occupy some more column inches as time goes by. So farewell then Yaya Toure, holder of one of the all time greatest chants, scorer of improbable goals, finisher of that 35 year trophy wait.

I salute the passing of this club legend.
