There has been much mystery regarding the team for Manchester City’s next Premier League match against Wolves.
The away game throws up many decisions regarding Pep Guardiola’s decision whether he will revert back to the one striker that played against Arsenal or would he keep the 3-5-2 that outperformed Huddersfield.
Prior to the game, many fans had wondered whether the two wingers and a flat back four would start in the game at Molineux due to threat Wolves pose in the wide areas.
In the game against Leicester City, a 3-4-2-1 formation was selected by Nuno Espírito Santo with Diego Jota and Helder Costa both playing an inside forward position behind Raul Jimenez.
This allowed Wolves wing backs to perform their defensive and attacking the wings. This didn’t work as they lost 2-0 although they had plenty of opportunities to score, having 11 attempts to Leicester’s six shots.
The team news have confirmed and it is looks like that Pep has reverted back to 4-3-2-1 with Kyle Walker coming back in for John Stones, with Vincent Kompany and Aymeric Laporte forming the centre back partnership.
Ilkay Gundogan and David Silva will be more advanced than Fernandinho while Bernado Silva and Raheem Sterling will look to form the wide positions. After his hat-trick, Sergio Aguero forces Gabriel Jesus out of the team as the Argentine will look to increase goal tally today.
Captain Kompany will make his 250th Premier League appearance for City after recently enjoying his ten-year anniversary at the Etihad Stadium.
After impressing in spells against Leicester last weekend, Wolves have set up and looked to bring the attack to the City defence this afternoon. The Portuguese manager confirmed that he wasn’t prepared to change his squad and has named an unchanged line-up.
"“We don’t know how to play any other way,” he said. “There are two ways to react to what happened against Leicester. You react by changing or not. We will not change because we want to build something. It is more important than we keep doing the things that we train to do.” – Nuno Espirito Santo"
One thing we know for sure is that we are in for an exciting game as both teams will not hold back in front of goal. C’mon City !
