Premier league side agree club record fee to sign City midfielder
Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a club record fee of £16m for Manchester City midfielder Alexander Zinchenko according to journalist Tim Nash.
Zinchenko joined Manchester City from Russian side Ufa for a fee of around £1.7 million in July 2016. He was then quickly loaned out to Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven for the 2016-17 campaign but things did not go well for the youngster.
He appeared only twelve times for the Dutch side spending most of the season as a largely unused substitute. He returned to Manchester City hoping to make an impression and was presented with the chance in a rather unfamiliar position.
Naturally a midfielder, Zinchenko was asked to fill in at left back after injuries to both Fabian Delph and Benjamin Mendy. He took his chance and put in some impressive performances displaying intelligence on the ball, passing and some solid defending.

Those performances have not gone unnoticed as Wolves have come in and requested for his services from the Citzyens. The newly-promoted side are looking to add quality to their midfield and believe a fee of around £12m rising to £16m with add-ons should get the deal across the line.
According to Tim Nash, all that remains is for Zinchenko to decide whether the next stage in his career will be Wolves with interest from another Premier League club. The move would give him a chance to play in his preferred midfield role an offer that might be too tempting to refuse.
Given that Mendy is fully fit, Delph isn’t going anywhere and City’s midfield is stacked, Zinchenko might feel that the only chance for furthering his career lies away from the Etihad. And Wolves, who looked impressive in the Championship last year, could be just the place to start for the youngster.
The Ukrainian was predicted to leave earlier in the summer as makeweight in the Jorginho deal.
The midlands side haven’t gone unnoticed since their arrival into the Premier League, making some impressive acquisitions such as Portuguese international Rui Patrício, Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez and making the loan deals of Diogo Jota, Wily Boly and Léo Bonatini permanent.
