It has been a long time coming. We have been waiting and waiting for Manchester City’s new signing and it could happen tomorrow.

Over the last month, the club has led us guessing who will be their first addition to the record-breaking league winning squad, with Jorginho and Riyad Mahrez deals both advanced enough to get over the line at any stage.

Jorginho looks like to have won that race and be in Manchester ready for pre-season. He will arrive in the United Kingdom once the go-ahead for the £48 million plus bonuses move is given.

According to reports, Napoli and the club will reach an agreement for Jorginho ending the stalemate of the month-long negotiations and an rubber-stamping of the deal. The two clubs had been reportedly haggling over £2.5 million in bonus payments, leaving the deal so close in finalising.

It could be Monday that the Italian will be officially confirmed as Manchester City player for the forthcoming season.

His agent has been staying in England in efforts to bring a speedy resolution to the deal, while the player himself has been enjoying the sun in his native Brazil with his family.

It remains to be seen if the player will be a regular first-team member as Fernandinho and David Silva are ahead in the pecking order but both ageing, with the Brazilian-born Italian seen as ideal replacement for either.

As previously reported in an earlier post, Jorginho will easily fit into Pep’s style as he is comfortable with the ball at his feet, interchanging short and long passes allowing the team to control the pace of the game.

He can fit into any central midfield position and his inclusion will add greater competition in an area which has been seen as lacking, once you take the three regulars out of question.

He may be followed by another singing in the next week or two, as reports continue to flirt City with a number of potential new signings.

There has been no updates regarding the Mahrez deal with Leicester haggling over the price. Hopefully, the two will help the club bring further success to the blue side of Manchester.
